(EDITORIAL) The Planning Committee of the Muslim League which is to function shortly will be charged with a constructive task of the highest import. In announcing the imminent constitution of such a body, Mr. Jinnah has warned his followers not to expect any Get-Rich-Quick schemes of the type produced by Bania exploiters. Nor is it the intention to plan on any false political hypothesis. There is only a willing readiness to be realistic in outlook, and Mr. Jinnah has not hesitated to admit the difficulties in the path of the Muslim League. If a Planning Committee wanted financiers, technicians, practical men, and commercial scientists, he confessed plainly that “there was a dearth of such men among Muslims”. The personnel of the proposed Committee would, therefore, have an added responsibility of upholding the economics of Pakistan against the dead-weight of a Hindu monopoly of trade and industry….

To the Planning Committee, Mr. Jinnah has entrusted the problem of creating new channels of employment for the Muslims, a task which calls for enterprise and initiative on the part of Muslim industrialists at a time when it is more than necessary to shake off the stranglehold of Bania economy which is bidding for political power.… — Dawn Delhi
