GUJRAT: An expatriate Pakistani who was settled in Spain, was shot dead by the firing of assailants on the day of his daughter’s wedding on Monday.

Reports said Iftikhar Ahmed of Gumti village had returned to Pakistan from Spain a few weeks ahead of his daughter’s marriage scheduled to be held on March 18. Armed men opened fire on him near Dinga, leaving him critically injured. He succumbed to injuries while being shifted to hospital.

Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the report of Nisar Ahmed, the brother of the deceased.

Iftikhar was a well-know businessman of Pakistani community in Spain. The expatriates have lodged a protest against the murder and urged police and the government to track down the culprits.
