RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Cell arrested an alleged trafficker and recovered eight passports and other documents from his possession in a raid on Tuesday.

Kamran Ali, deputy director of the cell, said the raid was conducted in Chandni Chowk following complaints that an agent was extorting citizens in the guise of sending them abroad for better lives.

The suspect, identified as Tanveer Masih, was arrested, Mr Ali said, adding that eight passports were recovered from his possession.

He is accused of involvement in defrauding people in the name of visas for Qatar and Dubai and not arranging their travel. The suspect was shifted to an anti-human trafficking cell police station for further investigation.

Meanwhile, four Pakistanis deported by Turkish authorities arrived at Islamabad International Airport on Tuesday.

They were taken into custody by FIA staff and later shifted to the anti-human trafficking cell. The four Pakistanis are from Lahore, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin and Kurram Agency.
