PESHAWAR, July 8: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s parliamentary party on Friday cleared the Hasba Bill for tabling in the provincial assembly in its current session, according to a handout. NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani presided over the parliamentary party meeting, which debated each clause of the proposed bill. A presentation was given to Leader of the Opposition and parliamentary parties’ leaders Shahzada Gastasip Khan, Abdul Akbar Khan, Bashir Bilour, Anwar Kamal, Mureed Kazim, Mushtaq Ghani and senior minister Sirajul Haq.

The opposition parties said they had undertaken an honest appraisal of the bill and their apprehensions about it had been removed.

Leader of the Opposition and parliamentary parties’ leaders agreed to bring the proposed Hasba Bill to the floor of the assembly in its current session, the handout said.

Mr Durrani said that the government had provided a democratic forum and had decided to take everybody into confidence before tabling the bill in the assembly.
