Railway track

Published March 4, 2019

IN the 1960s and ’70s, and even later, there was a railway track from Mirpurkhas to Kot Ghulam Mohammadd-Jhudo-Naukot-Kunri-Pithoro and then Mirpurkhas.

There were at least 20 big and small railway stations on this track and three trains would run on this route, facilitating thousands of people of urban and rural areas of Mirpurkhas and Tharparkar districts of Sindh. However, unfortunately, this track closed a few years ago and the people have been suffering badly.

Federal Minister of Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad should reopen this track again, and at least one express train should run from Mirpurkhas to Kot Ghulam Muhammad-Digri-Jhudo-Naukot-Kunri and up to Pithoro and then return back to Mirpurkhas.

This is an important railway track for Sindh and covers three districts — Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, and Umerkot.

The opening of this track will help thousands of people of Sindh’s far-flung areas.
