KARACHI: “Pakistan will be participating in a major clinical trial for the eradication of tuberculosis (TB) conducted by St George’s University of London,” said Dr Amina Jindani, a leading specialist, who has established the International Consortium for Trials of Chemothe­rapeutic Agents in Tuber­culosis.

She will give two lectures on her work in Pakistan, according to a statement issued here. The lectures will be held at the Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Lahore on Feb 25 and the Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi on Feb 27.

The Aga Khan University and the Shaukat Khanum Hospital are collaborating in a multicentre trial with six other countries. The objective is to shorten the treatment of TB from six to four months with high ure rates.
