NOWSHERA: A number of lawyers quit the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) on Saturday and joined the People’s Lawyers Forum, Nowshera chapter, saying the ILF had ignored party workers after the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf came to power again in the province.

Former additional advocate general Mian Arshad Jan Advocate along with dozens of lawyers quit the ILF and joined PLF.

In this connection, a meeting of PLF was held at Nowshera Bar Room where PLF also completed its organisational structure.

Former additional advocate general Mohammad Ijaz Khan Advocate was elected president and Arshad Jan general secretary.

Pakistan Peoples Party leader Khan Pervez Khan, PLF provincial president Muzammal Khan Advocate and provincial general secretary Jamil Hameed Advocate were also present.

Arshad Jan announced election from the PLF platform in the coming elections of the district bar association. He said lawyers had played a key role in foiling every conspiracy against democracy and democratic institutions. He added lawyers had rendered matchless sacrifices for restoration of democracy in the country.
