KHUZDAR: Five people were killed and one was injured in a head-on collision between a car and a long body container at National Highway near Kalat on Friday.

The container was on its way to Karachi from Quetta when its brakes failed and the driver having lost control of the steering wheel hit the car in the Rekh area, some 15km off Kalat town.

“The car carrying six people was destroyed, killing five persons on the spot,” Mohammad Ayub Marri, a senior official of Kalat administration, told Dawn.

The deceased were identified as Asadullah, Mohammad Sharif, Abdul Manan, Mazoor Ahmed and Tahir Khan.

Four of the victims belonged to Quetta while one was a resident of Muslim Colony, Kalat. The injured was Mohammad Yahya. The container driver, Mohammad Imran, was arrested.
