KARACHI, July 5: Sindh Planning and Development Minister Shoaib Bukhari on Tuesday laid the foundation of a display centre at Government Polytechnic Institute for Women in Karimabad. The display centre will provide women to have their products on display and could also be used for annual exhibitions. Planning has been done for exhibition in secretarial, garments, electric, food, and architecture and information technology

To be constructed on an area of 15,749sq-ft for Rs21.680 million, the project, which is included in Sindh government’s ADP, will have a parking shed, store, administration block, tennis court, gallery etc.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the construction of this display centre for girls would greatly facilitate the students to improve their skills.

He said this project was of the first of its kind and hoped that other organizations would follow the suit.

He asked the officials that funds would be provided by the government, but they would have to complete the project by June 2006 instead of May 2008.—APP
