LAHORE: The city district administration got a case registered against actor Fawad Khan for not getting his female child vaccinated against polio by a field team.

The case was registered against the TV and film actor under sections 506, 269, 270, 186 and 188 of PPC despite the fact he was not present at his house in Model Town.

Khan’s driver Qaisar has also been nominated in the FIR (No182/9) registered at Faisal Town police station for “misbehaving” with the polio team.

“During checking, it (the vaccination team) came to know that the head of a family residing at 91-N, Model Town, is refusing to get his child administered polio drops. Besides, the family members also threatened the team with dire consequences. Since a polio case has recently been detected in Lahore, we are required to administer drops to all children (in 0-5 years age bracket). Therefore, a case should be registered against Fawad Khan and his driver Qaisar,” reads the FIR.

According to Deputy Commissioner Saleha Saeed, the FIRs in such refusal cases are supposed to be registered against heads of the families.

“Fawad is out of the country these days. Our team visited his house thrice on Wednesday, but his driver misbehaved with our team. So we were left with no option but to get an FIR lodged against the family head and his driver,” Ms Saeed told Dawn, adding “His (Fawad’s) wife also misbehaved with the polio team.”

The DC said under the standard operating procedure of the polio campaign, the field teams were supposed to administer drops to all kids (0-5 years).

“There are six such families in Model Town whose heads are not cooperating with us. They also used to misbehave with the teams during (previous) polio campaigns,” she said.

Meanwhile, the city admin also got cases registered against Dr Ahsan, Khwaja Muhammad, Faisal Ghafoor and Salman Sarfraz — all residents of Model Town.
