Of walls

Published February 19, 2019

THERE is a contentious issue between the US and Mexico over building the border wall. The Trump administration has been trying to build a border wall in order to stop or check human trafficking, drugs and smuggling.

Pakistan and Afghanistan face the same problems. A large number of items are being smuggled out of Pakistan to Afghanistan without taxes and duties being paid. If the government makes proper arrangements and takes appropriate steps for border security, it can prevent the illegal supply of drugs, equipment, tools and machines, which are sold in Pakistani markets without taxes and duties. This excess supply of tools and machines weakens the economy. The government should also keep an eye on the border with India to stop smuggling.

With the help of customs authorities and other regulatory bodies, all illegal activities on the border can be stopped through proper checks.
