UPPER DIR/PARACHINAR: Eight persons were killed seven others injured in roof collapse incidents in Upper Dir and Parachinar area of Kurram tribal district on Monday.

Five people were killed and two got injuries in roof collapses due to heavy rain in different areas of Kurram tribal district.

According to local administration and the hospital officials, the roof of a house owned by Noor caved in at Morghi Cheena area. As a result of the roof collapse, five inmates, including wife and daughter of Noor were buried alive under the rubble.

The local people rushed to the site and retrieved four bodies and one injured from the debris. The injured was rushed to Sadda hospital in precarious condition.

The second incident occurred in Boghaki village of upper Kurram where roof of a house collapsed, killing one person. The third incident took place in Zeran area of upper Kurram where roof of a house caved in, injuring one inmate.

The injured was taken to the district headquarters hospital, Parachinar, in critical condition.

Meanwhile, three persons were killed and five others injured when an under-construction house collapsed in Rambyal Karo Dara area of Wari tehsil of Upper Dir district.

Police said that the incident took place during daytime when a mason along with labourers was busy in repair work of the house of one Hayatullah.

All of a sudden the roof of the house caved in, and as a result, the mason and two children were buried alive under the rubble of the roof. Five other persons also got injuries.

The local people, police and Levies personnel reached the site of the incident and took part in rescue work. They retrieved the bodies and injured and took them to a local hospital.

The deceased were identified as Saaz Mohammad and Attaullah, while name of the third deceased could not be identified.

The injured were then taken to a hospital in Timergara, Lower Dir, in critical condition.
