OKARA: Three people were administered treatment after they suffered kite string injuries in various parts of the city on Saturday.

Abdul Rehman, a resident of 5 4/L near octroi post 7, was going somewhere by his motorcycle when he came in contact with string. He was injured and taken to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital.

Amir was injured by string near octroi 6 and Ashfaq on an overhead bridge. They were given first-aid in the DHQ hospital emergency ward.

KASUR: Police arrested 22 people including the son of a former PML-N MPA in a crackdown on kite-flying violators.

The Mustafabad, A-Division, B-Division and Khudian police registered cases against the violators and put them behind the bars.

The Mustafabad police registered 14 cases and arrested Muhammad Adeel, son of Nadeem Yaqoob Sethi, former MPA of the PML-N. They claimed to have recovered hundreds of kites and twine rolls from the violators.

GUJRANWALA: The district police arrested 284 people and registered 220 cases for selling kites and twine and other violations of ban on the sport.

Police said they seized 20,000 kites and 800 twine rolls during the last week. A good number of people celebrated basant and revelled in aerial firing and other activities.

Police said they would produce the violators in court.
