MULTAN: The police have arrested the station house officer of Muzaffarabad police station (SHO) and a trainee assistant sub-inspector (ASI) for keeping women in illegal confinement.

The Muzaffarabad police lodged a case under sections 342 of the Pakistan Penal Code and the 115-C of Police Order on the complaint of Deputy Superintendent Police of Muzaffarabad Circle Muhammad Iqbal Khan he was present in the police station when the reader presented a decree by the Lahore High Court Multan Bench’s bailiff for inspection.

He said that during inquiry it was revealed that trainee ASI Munir Javed (in charge of Al-Quresh Police Post) with other police officials raided the residence of Muhammad Younas, of Tiba Masoodpur, whose name is included in police record previously on Feb 13. He said that the police picked females of Younas’ family to the police check post who were later handed over a notable of the area.

The police tried to twist the incident, saying that the same evening, Ayesha Bibi, Shahnaz Bibi, Robina Bibi, Bakhtawar Bibi, Sobia Bibi and Tahira Begum came to the police check post and soon after a court bailiff also arrived at the police station and took the women with them.

Holding the trainee ASI guilty, the DSP also held responsible SHO Ali Hassan Gilani responsible for the incident.
