ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has invited the business community of Azerbaijan to visit Pakistan for exploring avenues of cooperation in diverse fields.

Ambassador of Azerbaijan Ali Fikrat Oglu Alizada called on the NA speaker at the Parliament House on Thursday.

Speaking to the envoy, Mr Qaiser said that both countries shared common views and perceptions on various regional and international issues. He also appreciated Azerbaijan’s support for Pakistan on its principled stand on Kashmir.

He said that Pakistan valued its brotherly relations with Azerbaijan, which were based on historical, cultural and religious commonalities. Mr Qaiser said that Pakistan intended to further cement those relations through parliamentary and economic cooperation.

The speaker said that the support the two countries had extended to each other on different issues and forums was a manifestation of strong ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

He stressed the need for enhancing cooperation between the legislatures of the two countries, adding that parliamentarians could play a vital role in building bridges of bilateral cooperation.

Mr Qaiser informed the ambassador about the reactivation of Pakistan-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly. He also asked the envoy to convey his invitation to his Azerbaijani counterpart to visit Pakistan.

Mr Alizada said that the government and people of Azerbaijan greatly valued their friendship with Pakistan. He said that his government was thankful to Pakistan for its unwavering support on the issue of Nagorno Karabakh.

He agreed for expanding parliamentary and economic ties with Pakistan, saying that the political leadership of Azerbaijan was committed to strengthening bilateral ties.
