KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Syed Kaleem Imam was on Thursday informed that some suspects of Wednesday’s incident in Larkana in which three persons were murdered had been detained.

The police chief chaired a high-level meeting of officers at the Central Police Office to review law and order in the province.

It was attended, among others, by the additional IG and DIGs of Karachi and Larkana.

Sources privy to the meeting told Dawn that IGP Imam was informed that some suspects had been picked up following three murders in Larkana and injury to another person in Khairpur on Wednesday.

Police investigators were making efforts to ascertain the identity of the culprits and their motive, it was stated.

Three labourers riding a Qingqi rickshaw were on their way to Madeji town from Larkana when they were gunned down near Naudero Sugar Mills bypass by unidentified motorcyclists.

The victims were identified as Waheed Gul, 60, Raees Khan, 41, and Arab Gul, 36. They hailed from the Bajaur area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Meanwhile, an official statement issued after the meeting said that the IGP directed the officers to adopt proactive policing steps to launch an organised and massive crackdown against the criminal elements and their patrons.

He also asked the officers to start flag march at provincial level in order to create a sense of security among people.
