PESHAWAR: The residents of various localities, including Shadbagh Colony, Agha Mir Jani Road and Kocha Patwaryan, on Wednesday expressed serious concern over suspension of power supply to their localities for the past five days due to a faulty transformer and accused the Pesco officials of delaying its repair.

In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, the consumers said the power transformer had developed a serious fault on Feb 11 and the relevant staff of Peshawar Electric Supply Company shifted it to a workshop in Nowshera but it was not reinstalled so far.

It was stated that the consumers had regular contact with the Pesco officials but they were not ready to repair it.

“We are asked to wait for our turn, but the officials are not ready to tell us the exact time for fixing the power transformer,” the statement said.

The entire area, they said was facing serious problem as the power suspension had also caused acute water shortage. Besides, they said the darkness at nighttime had also led to street crimes.

They demanded of the Pesco chief to take notice of the negligence of the relevant staff and resolve the matter at the earliest.
