PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan inaugurated Ice Drug Rehabilitation Centre here on Monday equipped with all facilities under one roof having hundred beds and a pharmacy for provision of free medicines to patients.

An official statement said this was the first ever ice drug rehabilitation centre which would provide free food and accommodation, and more importantly, would be rehabilitating addicts along with providing training facilities to make them useful citizens of the society.

Mr Mahmood termed the new centre for rehabilitation of drug addicts unique one where neglected segments of society who developed physiological barriers on multiple reasons could be rehabilitated. The government would go all-out to facilitate the ice drug addicts in the centre, he added.

He said the centre would have a separate portion for treatment of ice drug-affected persons and a laboratory would be established with modern facilities to undertake necessary screening.

He said the government was aware of the rising ice drug addiction and stood committed to eliminating it. He said it was collective responsibility of the government and welfare institutions to rise to the occasion and contribute to rehabilitation of ice drug addicts.

A new ice drug centre would also be established in Hayatabad which would be inaugurated by the prime minister, he said.
