LAHORE: A woman, whose minor son was getting treatment in the ward of the Mayo Hospital, has allegedly been raped by a hospital staffer.

Three suspects, including security guard of the hospital, took the woman to an office of the Albert Victor Hospital (AVH) of the Mayo Hospital where one of them - ‘S’ - allegedly raped her.

The crime was reportedly committed two days back in a building adjacent to the office of the Mayo’s medical superintendent.

An official said the matter was immediately brought to the notice of the MS for action against the security guard and the employees.

The woman later approached the Gowalmandi police which registered a case against the three suspects, including ‘S’.

She told the police that her relative Usman came to the hospital two days ago to attend the patient (her son).

She said he mistakenly went to the admin block where the security guard stopped Usman and warned him of fine for entering the prohibited area of the hospital which, according to the guard, was reserved for the VIPs only.

The guard later threatened that the doctors would discharge her son as “punishment” and asked her to appear before the admin official for an inquiry early morning [at 5am] the next day.

As she feared suspension of treatment, she reached the hospital at the given time.

She said as soon as she entered the office, the suspects, who were already present there, locked it from inside and ‘S’ allegedly raped her.

Meanwhile, the Mayo Hospital also formed a committee to launch an inquiry when the matter was highlighted by a section of media on Monday night.
