KARACHI: Governor Mohammad Musa announced over Radio Pakistan last night [Jan 27] that the Government was “willing to discuss any issues which are agitating the minds of the patriotic people”.

In an unscheduled broadcast, he, however, warned that “the time has now come to put an end to wanton destruction and violence”.

“As you know, curfew has been imposed in Lahore and parts of Karachi and Army has been called in aid of civil power. Strong contingents of the Army are patrolling all the sectors of both cities.

“For weeks past, the Province has been witnessing processions and demonstrations in many cities. ...

“Invariably, some elements who are interested only in creating disorder have joined these demonstrations. ...

“Government feel that they have shown enough patience and forbearance in tolerating these demonstrations some of which were of a violent character.

“The time has, however, come to put an end to these anti-social activities. ... They must know that Government has the means to deal with them, means available to it under the law of the land. ...

“On its part, Government are not only anxious that student community resumes its normal academic life but are also willing to discuss with patriotic elements any issues which are agitating their minds. Pakistan Zindabad.”
