LAHORE: The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) sent on Tuesday its recommendation for standardizing cosmetic products to the National Standard Committee (NSC) for approval.

PSQCA’s technical committee on cosmetics held a two-day meeting to finalise harmonised standards for cosmetic products at its office under the slogan of ‘One Standard for One Nation’.

The meeting finalized common standards for hair oil, beauty cream, hair removing cream, moisturizing cream, nail polish and lip stick for the whole country and draft has been sent to NSC for final approval.

The common standards would be implemented on cosmetics products after approval from the NSC.

Committee chairman Abdul Maalik said that the committee had addressed the grievances of stakeholders and the PCMA had assured its full cooperation in elimination of fake and illegal cosmetics from the market. He said they had achieved a milestone and common standards would be helpful for the industry and only PSQCA-licensed products would be allowed to sale.

He said that with the help of PCMA, the PSQCA would continue its crackdown against illegal cosmetic products and he hoped the department would eliminate fake products from the surface.
