PPMA to stock drugs for any emergency

Published January 12, 2002

LAHORE, Jan 11: The Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (PPMA) has said that all its members are ready to supply medicines in abundance in case of any emergency.

In an emergency meeting here on Friday, PPMA members decided to pile up their medicine stocks for continuous supply at least for three to six months.

The meeting stressed that the federal government should ask the Punjab health department to restore the system of Medical Store Depot (MSD) for the time being to purchase and stock medicines to meet any crisis.

The meeting also urged the federal government to give one-time permission to pharmaceutical formulators to import raw material to manufacture and supply medicines without any delay.
