SHANGLA: The residents of Kolai, Madakhel Abad and Batera areas of Kolai Pallas district have warned of blocking the Karakoram Highway if the provincial government established the district headquarters in Pallas instead of Batera.

They were speaking at a jirga held here in Bisham on Sunday, where over 300 persons were present.

They also chanted slogans against the MPA from the PK-27, Kohistan-III constituency, Mufti Ubaid ur Rehman, for his campaign to establish the headquarters in Pallas.

The elders said former chief minister Pervez Khattak had selected Batera to be headquarters of the newly-established Kolai Pallas district, and that they would now allow the decision to be changed at any cost.

They claimed that Batera was accessible to inhabitants of all the areas of the district, while Pallas was situated on one side.
