PESHAWAR:Qaumi Watan Party leader Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao has complained about growing prices and feared that the upcoming mini budget would add to the people’s economic problems.

According to a statement issued by his party’s secretariat on Thursday, the QWP leader said the government had disappointed the people by following flawed policies.

Mr Sikandar said the people hadn’t seen any positive change in their lives since the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf came into power few months ago.

Sikandar Sherpao says hike in power, gas and oil prices made people’s life miserable

“The PTI government has failed to provide relief to the people, who face a host of problems mostly unemployment and poverty. Increase in power, gas and oil prices has made their lives miserable,” he said.

The QWP leader said a government, which increased the prices of lifesaving drugs, electricity and gas and hiked taxes, couldn’t improve the country’s economic condition.

“The rulers even borrowed money from Saudi Arabia and China but our economy is still in bad shape,” he said.

Mr Sikandar came down hard on the provincial government for failing to complete the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit project and complained that the dust and traffic jams due to the project had made life miserable for the residents.

He said those claiming to create 10 million jobs and construct five million houses had increased the people’s problems.

The QWP leader said the PTI had shouted the slogan of change to deceive the innocent people to reach the power corridors.

He said the claims of upholding merit, ensuring transparency and fighting corruption were political gimmick to hoodwink the people.

Mr Sikandar said carving out one constituency from the Frontier Regions was illogical and beyond comprehension.

He said the government had yet to extend police and judiciary to the tribal districts causing unrest among residents.

“Regular courts have not been set up in merged districts that spoke volumes about the sincerity of the rulers,” he added wondering how justice could be dispensed in the absence of courts.

Meanwhile, the QWP leader also addressed a public meeting in Shabqadar tehsil of Charsadda district, where Awami National Party local leader Iftikhar Khan announced the joining of the QWP along with family members and supporters.

Mr Sikandar said the party would continue raising voice for the rights of Pakhtuns. He asked nationalist forces to develop coordination for the purpose.
