QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani said on Tuesday that the provincial government was taking practical steps to solve problems being faced by the province’s people.

During his visit to Dalbandin, he said his government did not believe in raising hollow slogans.

Mr Alyani, who was accompanied by provincial Finance Minister Arif Jan Mohammad Hasni, said: “The coalition government is giving full attention to those issues of the province which had been unresolved for decades.”

He said after personally visiting some districts of Balochistan and knowing the nature of people’s problems his government had launched projects to resolve all issues the province had been facing for long.

During his visit to Dalbandin, the chief minister met people of the area who informed him about their problems. He assured them that steps would be taken to solve their problems.

Mr Alyani criticised previous provincial governments for what he called ignoring problems of the province. He said Balochistan had a number of issues and for their resolution sincere efforts were needed. He said his government was making efforts to provide all basic facilities to people at their doorsteps.

The chief minister said that his government was trying to solve problems of people at district level. It would empower commissioners and deputy commissioners to provide relief to the masses. “It is responsibility of local administrations to improve their performance and make efforts for providing relief to people,” he added.

Talking about the drought-like situation being faced by some districts of the province, Mr Alyani said his government was making efforts to provide maximum assistance to people affected by drought. He said food, medicines and other necessary goods for the drought-hit people of Chaghi and Kharan districts had been dispatched.

“The government has released Rs500 million for the drought-hit areas while short- and long-term plans are being prepared to improve the situation,” he added.

Lauding the provincial finance minister’s approach for addressing people’s issues in his constituency, the chief minister said: “Fortunately I have a hardworking team which is working day and night to serve the deprived people of this province. The elected representative of the area has taken some important decisions for resolving issues of the Chaghi district.”

He said Chaghi would be turned into a developed district of Balochistan.

Mr Alyani visited Prince Fahad bin Sultan Welfare Hospital and received briefing on affairs of the hospital. “Provision of health facilities is the basic right of people. Therefore, the provincial government had declared a health emergency in the province.”
