CHITRAL: The Chitral Press Club launched the first issue of the biannual news journal ‘Chhitrar’ here on Monday.

Deputy commissioner Khurshid Alam Mehsud was the chief guest at the launching ceremony, while Brig (retired) Khosh Mohammad, general manager of Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan region of Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan, presided over the function.

On the occasion, Mr Mehsud highlighted the role of media in exposing the wrongdoings, thereby giving relief to the affected.

He cited the examples of Watergate Scandal which had long-lasting repercussions for the world and such things happened every now and then. He appreciated the role of local media in maintaining peace and sectarian harmony in the district.

Brig (retired) Khosh Muhammad appreciated the initiative of bringing out news journal and said it was a milestone for the local journalist community.
