GUJRANWALA, June 28: The watch and ward system under the Police Order 2002 would be enforced in Gujranwala region from July 15 while the Punjab IGP approved the required strength and issued a notification to this effect here on Tuesday.

Reports said 18 inspectors and about 600 other staff, including ASIs, constables, besides an SP (investigation) had already been appointed here.

The investigation officers will investigate around 11,059 cases and submit chargesheet to courts. The investigation cell needs 221 more investigation officers and DIG Zafar Abbas Lak has asked DPO Dr Arif Mushtaq to arrange the officials immediately.

MADINA SYEDAN CASE: The anti-terrorism court no 1 will start tomorrow (June 30) hearing in the Madina Syedan (Gujrat) case in which 19 people were killed on jail premises for lack of security.
