LAHORE: Samba Bank and Guard Group/Master Paints qualified for the main final of the Pakistan Polo Cup after registering victories in their respective matches here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Friday.

Olympia and PBG/Remounts also entered the subsidiary final to be played on Sunday.

Samba Bank edged past Polo D Sufi by five goals to four and a half. For the winners, Shah Shamyl Alam and Hissam Ali Hyder scored a brace each while Mir Shoaib Ahmed struck one. For Polo D Sufi, who had half-goal handicap, Ahmed Ali Tiwana pumped in two goals while Sufi Haroon and Raja Temur Nadeem chipped in with a goal apiece.

In the day’s second match, Hamza Mawaz Khan’s six-goal haul helped Guard Group/Master Paints overcome PAF 11-8.

Besides Hamza’s heroics, Taimoor Ali Malik recorded a magnificent hat-trick and Saqib Khan Khakwani and Farooq Amin Sufi scored a goal each.

For PAF, which had a two-goal handicap, Raja Mikael Sami, Raja Jalal Arslan and Nicolas Ruiz Guinazo smashed two goals apiece.
