CNIC cheating

Published January 2, 2019

IT has become a common practice in the country to ask for some form of identification, usually a computerised national identity card for work and business purposes.

While this is all good, what is not, is the fact that we also keep hearing about bank and other frauds, which are on the rise, as in most cases CNICs are being used for criminal purposes.

I suggest that the original CNIC only be seen at the time of transactions or deals and CNIC numbers be noted and verified through Nadra. This way no vendors or dealers will have a copy of anyone’s CNIC and it will not end up in wrong hands.
