PESHAWAR: The picturesque winter resort of Naltar in Gilgit-Baltistan and the ski slopes of Malam Jabba in Swat will play host to some exhilarating winter sports in the coming days.

The Winter Sports Federation of Pakistan has chalked out an elaborate calendar of events for the season. The winter sports season has already commenced at PAF Naltar with Saadia Khan and Children Ski Cup scheduled for this week. Besides, snowboarding and ice skating, ice hockey competitions would also be held for the first time in the country.

The Shah Khan Ski Cup and Joint Chiefs of the Staff Committee chairman championship are also on the calendar. This year, inter-university championships for men and women have been planned to promote winter sports in the educational institutions of the country.

Alongside PAF Naltar, the Malam Jabba Ski Resort would host a national ski championship, the Malam Jabba Ski Cup and Chief of the Air Staff International Karakoram Alpine Ski Cup. The federation has chosen the recently developed Rattu Ski Resort to host the two events this year, including the inter-services ski cup and national cross-country ski cup.
