BEIJING, June 26: Pakistan has offered to sign a joint declaration for cooperation on counter-terrorism with Asean States. Speaking at a two-day symposium on security issues held at Ulaanbaaatar, capital of Mongolia, Pakistan’s representative and a senior official of Pakistan Embassy in Beijing Babar Amin said Pakistan is also willing to share its experience in countering terrorism with the Asean Region Forum (ARF).

Pakistan strongly believes that there is no justification for terrorism. However, we must take cognizance of its root causes such as injustice, repression, poverty and denial of freedom and basic human rights, he added. He said: “We are determined to engage constructively with all its neighbours in South Asia on the basis of sovereign equality to find just and lasting solution to the long-standing disputes.” —APP
