THE WEEK THAT WAS

Deedan | A-Plus, Saturdays 8.00pm

In the city, Resham’s (Sanam Saeed) friend Pulvasha (Minsa Malik) is making loads of money through modeling assignments and her husband Alamzeb (Sarfaraz Ashraf) buys a palatial house for them, but seems busy in a covert activity that Pulvusha soon discovers. Without her knowledge, Alamzeb has used her savings to send his brother to South Africa. She finds out that her money is missing, accuses Alamzeb of breaking her trust which leads to strained relations.

In the village, after being married off to her father-in-law Gulbaaz Khan (Ajab Gul) as per their tribal laws because he wasn’t her deceased husband Shahbaz Khan’s (Hassan Khan) real father, Resham is dreading her wedding night. But as Gulbaaz Khan begins to describe his romantic feelings for her, an earthquake shakes Hunza, a wall collapses on him and he breaks his leg. All through this, Resham smiles — her head turned up to the heavens. Nevertheless, Gulbaaz Khan soon recovers and gets all dressed up to approach his new bride again, only to discover that she is nowhere to be found. Attiya Dawood’s story takes an intriguing twist when Zardab (Mohib Mirza), who Resham initially wanted to marry, finally convinces her to elope with him. What fate has in store for them is anybody’s guess.

Babban Khala Ki Betiyan | ARY, Thursdays 9.00pm

Babban Khala’s (Zaheen Tahira) dauntless daughters carry on with their shenanigans and scandals. Momi (Javeria Abbasi) settles down in her married life with Munna (Ali Josh) but things are not too well on the home front at Babban House. When their sly cousin Qasim (Sarfaraz Ashraf) spots Momi’s younger sister Bubbly (Srha Asghar) and her beau Pappu (Arslan Faisal) near the city courts, he accuses them of going there for a court marriage. The insensitive allegation, along with photos in Qasim’s mobile phone, gives the girls’ father Basharat (Qavi Khan) a heart condition, creating an upheaval for the entire family.

On returning home, Bubbly is received with slaps and slander, and it takes her a while to explain that she had not married Pappu in court but had actually declined his proposal to do so. Meanwhile, instead of a marriage proposal that she has been anxiously waiting for, Momi’s other sister Dolly (Sana Fakhar) receives a present from the neighbours. It doesn’t disappoint her at all for she believes better things are on the way.

What To Watch Out For

Ranjha Ranjha Kardi | Hum TV, Saturdays 8.00pm

In the hope that marriage would cure Bhola (Imran Ashraf)’s mentally-challenged behaviour, his mum (Asma Abbas) talks to Bibi Jannatay (Zeb Rehman) about looking for an appropriate girl for him. However Bibi Jannatay remains unconvinced. Meanwhile, Noori (Iqra Aziz) continues to be head-over-heels in love with the handsome Sahir (Syed Jibran), and is ready to do whatever it takes for her to get him out of jail for allegedly robbing the shop he works in. Despite Sahir’s disapproval of her visits to the jail, she cannot stop visiting him and, in order to get him out fast, asks her employer Qudsia (Ayesha Khan) for two lac rupees to bail him out.

Curious as to why Noori needs such a huge amount of money, Qudsia tells her husband, the sanctimonious Haji Sahib (Haseeb Khan) about Noori’s request, but the cunning Haji Sahib has an agenda of his own. He meets her at the factory and shocks her by promising her to provide to her as much money as she needs as long as she is ready to oblige his unsavoury requests when Qudsia is not at home. This leaves Noori in a quandary and to avoid Haji Sahib, she plans an exit from the house while Qudsia is away, but only after stealing some of the jewellery.
