Quetta population

Published December 20, 2018

I WAS disappointed to see conditions of my hometown Quetta during a recent visit. It took me half an hour to reach home from Jinnah Road which is just a five to seven minutes drive from my place.

Poor traffic management and increasing number of vehicles in a small city like Quetta, which was designed in the late 19th century for 100,000 people only and now has a population of 1,001,205, is a worrisome and distressing factor for natives.

Vehicular flow in the only urbanised city of the province with a regular influx of population is a major issue, which is being neglected. VIP movement on major connecting roads like Zarghoon Road adds fuel to the fire.

Apart from traffic management, major buildings and institutions should be shifted from the city centre to peripheral areas and action against illegal vehicles be taken to give some respite to the people.
