KARACHI: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested eight suspects, including a government official and six teenage boys, on charges of stealing motorbikes in the metropolis.

The Sir Syed police claimed to have busted a six-member gang of “teenage” motorcycle thieves.

“The police arrested six suspects aged from 14 to 18 years,” said Central SSP Arif Aslam. He added that the teenage suspects had “confessed” to having committed several crimes. The police seized nine motorbikes from their custody.

“The held teenage suspects are experts in lifting motorbikes,” said the SSP.

The police have registered a case against the held suspects named Amir Haider, Saleem alias Khachia, Khairullah, Kamran, Khan Wali and Shahzad.

Separately, the Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) claimed to have arrested two suspects, including a government official, on charges of stealing motorbikes.
