SAHIWAL: Hackers deprived two account holders of a bank of Rs500,000 by stealing their ATM information on Monday.

A gang allegedly installed a device at the ATM cabin of the UBL’s Mission Chowk branch a few days ago and two persons found their cash missing on Monday.

Ms Yasmeen, a resident of Harappa city, told reporters that she got an SMS alert of money withdrawal and when she contacted the customer centre, it transpired that Rs300,000 had been withdrawn from her account through the ATM in Islamabad.

The amount was withdrawn in one hour in installments, she quoted the officials as having claimed.

Tajamal Abbas of Sahiwal city said the hackers deprived him of Rs200,000 through four transactions.

The FIA cyber wing is investigating the matter.
