DINAJPUR: President Ayub Khan declared here today [Dec 9] that the “disruptionist activities” of the Opposition would have to end as the Government on no account would allow the country to be divided.

Addressing a public meeting, estimated to be of about three lakh people, the President declared, amidst thunderous cheers, that the Opposition would not be given the licence to do away with the present system which had ensured economic and political stability in the country.

The President warned the nation that the Opposition leaders were bent upon destroying the progress and the development achieved by Pakistan during the last decade when the country regained her lost prestige. “Their sole intention is to wreck the national unity and solidarity so that they can again become warlords,” he added.

The President told the giant gathering, which repeatedly burst into spontaneous cheers, that the Government wanted to have an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity for the forthcoming elections. He appealed to the people not to be misled by their (Opposition) propaganda and elect only those people who could maintain the present stability in the country.
