RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner Omer Jehangir on Saturday inaugurated a five-day polio vaccination campaign by administering drops to his own son.

He also reviewed the arrangements for the campaign and directed the health department to pay special attention to the children who missed the dose in the last campaign.

He assured full cooperation of the district administration to the health department and also directed establishment of a monitoring mechanism for this campaign and sought daily report to his office.

Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr. Khalid Mehmood, District Officer Health and other officers concerned were also present in the meeting.

Sharing details of arrangement for anti-polio drive, District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Khalid Mehmood said that a target to vaccinate 848,250 children had been set for which 226 union council medical officers and 547 area in-charges had been appointed.

Moreover, 2,503 mobile teams and 295 fixed points and 120 transit points have been established, he said.

CEO health further added that the teams had been designated for this task and health officers would monitor the campaign and security of polio workers.

He said the refusal cases of previous campaigns would also be covered this time.
