SHIKARPUR, June 24: A 100 feet wide breach was occurred in the Warah Canal, near Panhwar Palijo, Garhi Yasin taluka, on Thursday night when some irrigation officials were trying to install a pipe illegally to help some khatedars of the areas.

About 500 acres of paddy seedlings were inundated and some fish ponds were flooded. Growers are estimated to have suffered huge losses.

The irrigation officials and villagers succeeded in plugging the breach.

DEMO: Residents of the Madeji town staged a demonstration to protest delay by the Sindh government in issuance of notification for Madeji taluka.

Earlier, a meeting of the Shehri Ittehad was held at the Town School, Madeji.
