THIS refers to the letter ‘Vawda’s bravado’ (Nov 25). The writer did not seem to approve of Vawda’s act and was also worried about how the international media would have reacted had Vawda got injured in the act.

Personally, I rather liked what the young man did, which was meant purely to express solidarity with our Chinese guests and the staff tackling the terrorists. Vawda’s act did demonstrate courage because at times the terrorist attacks come in waves.

It was nice to know that there are people who are prepared to take risks and do not see their official position solely as a means for amassing illicit wealth.

However, I would have objected to his act had he tried to take charge of the operation against terrorists or in any way interfered with the work of the officials meant to deal with the matter.

I say this because I remember what a fool Chaudhry Nisar had made of himself and the country when he took charge of the operation against a gunman named Sikandar who, accompanied by his wife and two children had held the country’s capital hostage for nearly the whole day.

The sordid drama finally ended with the unconventional entry of Zamrud Khan.
