MARDAN: Police on Sunday arrested three persons in a swara case, including the father and brother of the victim girl, in Sawaldher area here.

The police’s preliminary investigations revealed that a youth of Babuzai locality in Katlang area identified as Bakhtiyar had illicit relations with the wife of Inamullah.

Police said Inamullah divorced his wife when he came to know about the relationship.

However, later a 10-member jirga was formed to settle the dispute.

According to police, the jirga decided to give a 14-year-old sister of the accused in swara to Inamullah to settle the dispute between the two families.

The jirga also decided that accused Bakhtiyar would marry the divorced wife of Inamullah.

However, later differences developed between the two families and the matter reached the Jabbar police station.

The police arrested Mukhtiyar, father of the victim girl, her brother Bakhtiyar and Inamullah, after registering FIR against 13 persons, including the cleric who solemnised the nikah.
