RAWALPINDI: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has said it is going to introduce a biometric attendance system in its offices and parks and has asked the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for a software to computerise the data of its employees.

“We will also computerise the record of fuel consumption and in this regard have consulted oil marketing companies to get fleet cards for filling fuel in water tankers and other vehicles,” PHA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa told Dawn.

He said cards would be issued to drivers of the vehicles who would get fuel from designated filling stations.

Some oil marketing companies have been contacted and they have agreed to introduce the system for the PHA. Through this system, he said, unnecessary fuel consumption would be checked and the office would have the record showing who used extra fuel for which vehicle.

Mr Jappa said a committee had also been formed, comprising directors of PHA, to make arrangements for the computerisation of the advertisement data. The details of revenue generated from advertisements would be available online.

He said the PHA would be the first civic body which would provide all the information about its budget, works and employees on its website. He said new projects and plans would also be available online.

“We have sought software from the PITB so that educational qualifications and technical skills of our employees could be computerised. This would help the authority assign its employees duties as per their qualifications and skills.”

He said the data of 700 employees would be computerised. Initially, the record of the staff has been collected from all the branches. After introducing the biometric attendance system, the employees whether in offices or in the field will use it for marking their attendance and the head offices will record their presence in their workplaces.

Mr Jappa said the process would be completed by the end of next month and the biometric attendance system would be introduced in a month or two.

He said after completing the process, the employees would be given cards containing their names, designations, departments, basic pay scales and employee numbers. The system will also help get the record of absent employees so that action can be taken against those who do not come to work regularly.
