KARACHI: Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani postponed on Tuesday the day’s session to Thursday when he saw a scarcely attended house even after a delay of an hour to the 10am scheduled time.
“How can we run the proceedings when members are not in the house?” remarked an angry speaker soon after he emerged from his chamber.
He said he had already waited for a full hour for the members to enter the assembly hall, “yet, the attendance is so low”. Much less than the required one-fourth of the total strength of the provincial assembly was present when the session began at 11am. Speaker Durrani expressed anger over the absence of the members.
It was a private members’ day and the schedule was stuffed with numerous resolutions, motions and bills filed by members.
The session will resume on Thursday.
