KHUZDAR: Three people, among them a woman, were killed and 13 others injured when a passenger coach overturned on National Highway near the Uthal area of Lasbela district on Sunday, police said.

The Karachi-bound coach coming from Quetta met with the accident when its driver lost control over the steering wheel, reportedly because of speeding.

“Three passengers, including a woman, were killed on the spot,” Lasbela Deputy Commissioner Shabbir Mengal said after visiting the scene of the crash along with police and rescue workers. Bodies and injured were shifted to the district hospital.

“The condition of at least three passengers is serious as they have received multiple wounds,” police said. Those passengers were taken to Karachi because of their condition.

The other five were admitted to the government-run Uthal hospital.

Two out of the three deceased were identified as Ghazi Khan and Ataullah. The injured included the driver of the coach.

Separately, a student died and his associate was injured when a van hit their motorcycle near the Baghbana area of Khuzdar district. The deceased was identified as Zahid Jan while his colleague, whose name could not ascertained immediately, was admitted to the hospital.
