PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon announce a big package for the erstwhile Fata that will usher a new era of prosperity in the region.

He was talking to the elders of North Waziristan tribal district here on Sunday, said an official statement. Chief Minister Mahmood Khan was also present on the occasion.

The tribal elders discussed the issues arising in the wake of merger of Fata with the province and gave their suggestions in this regard.

The governor said that the purpose of merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was to make the tribal districts and people developed and prosperous. He added that respect, honour and protection of tribal people were their responsibilities.

He said that no personnel of Khasadar and Levi forces would be disturbed rather their employment would be continued in their respective areas. More packages would be announced to provide employment to tribal youth and facilitate tribal people, he added.

The governor said that consultations would be ensured with the tribal elders in decision making process, especially in developmental schemes.
