KARAK: The anti-corruption establishment has asked the Karak TMA to hand over record of the bidding process and the development projects executed during the last three years, acting on an application by deposed tehsil nazim Haji Abdul Wahab who has alleging corruption in the tendering process and payments made to the contractors.

Sources in the TMA told Dawn on Saturday that the corruption watchdog had demanded uplift projects’ record from 2015 to 2018.

They claimed that the former tehsil nazim had expressed concerns about the alleged irregularities in the tenders and had written letters to various investigative agencies to take action.

The sources added that now the anti-corruption establishment had asked the TMO Muneer Chughtai to turn over the relevant record, who in turn, had directed the relevant section of the TMA to provide the required record to the anti-corruption body.

The former tehsil nazim was de-seated through a vote of no-confidence by the members of Karak tehsil council.

BY-ELECTIONS ON LG SEATS: By-election on 12 vacant seats of councillors will be held on Dec 23. According to a letter written by the district election commission to the local government department, Karak, on Saturday, the by-polls would be held on one vacant seat of district councillor, two tehsil councillors, seven general councillors, one peasant and one woman.

The letter added that the aspiring candidates could submit their nomination papers in the office of district election commission on Nov 19, 20 and 21.
