KARACHI: The Sindh police on Friday formally launched the ‘biometric verification services’, which would help access record of criminals and identify unclaimed bodies.

This was stated by DIG IT Sultan Ali Khowaja in a meeting chaired by IGP Sindh Dr Syed Kaleem Imam at the Central Police Office.

With this development the province has assumed a distinction as being the first in the country for launching such a system with the help of Nadra.

It was said in a statement that under this services, Nadra would provide individual record verification services to the client.

The data will be received over the secure virtual private network already established between the Sindh police and Nadra.

Mr Khowaja informed the participants in the meeting that a memorandum of understanding had been signed between the Sindh police and Nadra last week in Islamabad.

The DIG IT stated that with the help of this software criminal record of terrorists, kidnapers, extortionists and hitmen could be accessed with one click.

Besides it would also help identify unclaimed bodies.

He pointed out that this service was available at the CPO in Karachi while such devices had also been provided to districts police, which would be connected with the CPO through an online system.
