MANSEHRA: As the Tourism Corporation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has planned to install a chairlift between Naran and Saiful Muluk Lake, the district administration on Friday banned all construction activities on its route.

A circular issued by the deputy commissioner of Mansehra revealed that the people were illegally building hotels and other structures alongside the Lake Road and the other route specified for the installation of a chairlift from Naran, the commercial hub of Kaghan valley, to Saiful Muluk Lake.

It said all kinds of construction activities had been banned within 500 meters of the land acquired for chairlift and Saiful MulukRoad parking in Naran under Section 144 of CRPC.

The circular said violators of the ban would be dealt with under the law.

The Awami National Party had developed the plan to install the Naran-Saiful Muluk Lake chairlift after coming to power in 2008 but the project has been in doldrums since then.

BODY FOUND: A trader was killed here on Friday.

The bullet-riddled body of Mohammad Qasir alias Qazafi was found in the Ichar Nullah of Barkund area. The police said the deceased lived in Hamshirian village and had gone missing after he stepped out to collect due payments from a local committee’s members.

They said they had begun investigation after lodging an FIR against unidentified men.

BY-POLLS NEXT MONTH: The by-elections for 37 district, tehsil, village and neighbourhood council seats will be held on Dec 23.

The seats have been lying vacant for many months.

According to the Election Commission, aspirant can file nomination papers for the by-pollsby Nov 19.

District election commissioner Aziz Bahadar said three returning officers would supervise the electoral exercise in Mansehra, Oghi and Balakot tehsils of Mansehra district.

He said the elections would take place for four district council seats, three tehsil councils’ and 12 village and neighborhood councils’.

The by-election for Torghar district’s two neighbourhood council seats lying vacant for many months will also held the same day.
