KARACHI, June 21: BP Pakistan has said that it has made significant investments in Badin’s community development. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, it said the company was aware of the concerns of the protesters and honoured their civil right to protest. “However, BP believes the concerns are based on little or inaccurate information.”

It said that investments made recently by the company were visited by a group of journalists and representatives of NGOs, like the National Rural Support Programme, LEAD-Pakistan, the Sindh Graduates Association, the Indus Resource Centre and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute.

“BP Pakistan is committed to continuing positive engagement with civil society in order to further augment its development investments in Badin,” the statement concluded.
