HYDERABAD, June 21: Nine employees of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) suffered burn injures in a gas explosion outside a textile mills in the jurisdiction of Gulshan-i-Hali police station here on Tuesday. Soon after the explosion they were given first aid and later taken to a private hospital for treatment of burn wounds. They were said to have suffered 30 to 40 per cent burn injuries.

SSGC deputy general manger Mr Aftab Memon said two SSGC teams were working in the Customer Meter Station (CMS) outside the United Textile Mills for modification work as the mill had increased its units, requiring more supply of gas for power generation.

He claimed that the teams were inside when some gas leakage took place, leading to explosion in the CMS.

Some of the injured were identified as Ghaji Nabi Bux, Mian Bux and Saleem Raza. No case was lodged with police. The SSGC official said that employees were out of danger.
