Food quality

Published November 13, 2018

THE Sindh Food Authority was set up to ensure safe and hygienic food products and services – it has failed to do so. The SFA is yet to establish a scientific food examining laboratory or recruit experienced staff on permanent basis.

Over the weekend, two children reportedly died of food poisoning after consuming candy and food from two places in Clifton and DHA, Karachi, so far the police and yet to establish the real cause of these unfortunate deaths.

Without a proper food authority in the province it will be difficult to monitor eateries and ensure quality control.

Proper and suitable measures need to be in place to avoid such tragic incidents.

The problem won’t be solved by just arresting the staff. The government and food authority need to make sure that people are being served good quality and clean food.
